RULES AND REGULATIONS
Competition is open to Cassette-Tape Jockeys [CJ's] only - no DJ's, CDJ's, or, especially, iPODJ's.
The CJ must perform solo - no teams are permitted.
Some basic equipment will be supplied, including a dual cassette tape deck, basic mixer, and a pair 
of Walkmans [tm].

1. Competitors may supply and use any other cassette tape decks/players/recorders/etc.
2. Modified cassette tape devices are allowed but only those devices which play/manipulate 
   standard cassette tapes [for example, no mini-cassette recorders].
3. The use of headphones is permitted [must be supplied by competitor].
4. Competitors may ONLY USE PUBLISHED AUDIO CASSETTE TAPES for source material 
   (no dubbing cd's/vinyl/8-tracks/mp3's to tape, no home recordings, etc.)
5. Live microphone usage and live feedback are allowed - see the F.A.Q.***
6. Spliced tapes/tape loops are allowed (pursuant to rule #4)
7. Competitors may use no more than six (6) cassette devices.
8. There are no stylistic or aesthetic musical preferences. 

If you are wanting to use a device or technique, but aren't sure if it's permitted, please ask.

All competitors will be judged on the following criteria:

A. Content [techniques, musical ideas, tape medium exploitation]
B. Form [transitions, overall set structure]
C. Crowd Rocking
D. Intangibles

In order to better inform both judges and audience, each competitor must also 
briefly announce the equipment they are using prior to performing.

Competition consists of two rounds - Elimination Round competitors will be
allowed a period of exactly three (3) minutes to compete. Final Round 
competitors will be allowed a period of exactly five (5) minutes to compete.

The winners of the Elimination Round will compete in the Final Round. The
first place competitor of the Final Round will be the 2004 BEIGE World Champion CJ
and winner of the Grand Prize and "takes de' cake". Additional Prizes will be awarded to the runners-up.
